Why Orkut is NOT celebrating Pakistan’s Independence day???

Sponsored Links

Just few hours back I have posted how Orkut is celebrating Indias 60 Years of Independence!
Then I received comment from Lovedeep on that post saying Orkut Logo featuring Indian tricolor looking great!

And I wondered how Orkut Logo is featured in Pakistan as Pakistan also completing 60 Years of Independence day on 14th August, 2007.

So I decided to use a proxy for Pakistan - www.orkut.pk and shocked to see normal orkut logo!

Curiously I contacted Orkut Team asking,

wat about pakistan???
they r also having their 60th independence day!

and they replied with this….

Thank you for your feedback. We would love to hear from you via email too! orkut-users@google.com

Why this biasness??? Is this Independence Day celebration is professional move from orkut without any real spirit? Even if the answer is yes, isn’t Pakistan matters for orkut atleast professionally??

Anybody out there can answer this???

Its bcoz orkut earns its main revenues from India and Brazil .. Its only India who has made orkut so popular in last 1 year … the global popularity of orkut is 2day bcoz of Indian ,..and not bcoz some few Paki users…. so Its a Tribute to Indians from Orkut for makin It so popular ..

Orkut is second most popular site in India. After Brazil, India is the second largest traffic to orkut. Pakistan only contribute 2% to Orkut’s traffic.

    Hello Guys,
First Thanks for all nice comments! :-)

But what I was feeling a company like GOOGLE with so good reputation should go for all countries independence day! Actually just creating a logo and few polls doesn’t cost so much! ;-)

Now 2% may looks small but that is 2% of 66,821,872 no. of orkut user as of 14 August, 2007) goes well above 1 million! So my point is how good people like Google forget more than a million hearts???

Exactly. Look at the numbers and not percent.
even if it is then there is no harm in wishing them happy independence year.

Orkut.pk isn’t even located in pakistan. The server resides in USA. Therefore the proxy shows us what a user in USA would see.

You need to get in touch with a paki user to see if they got some pakistan specific logo at their end. Well, Aug 14th is almost over and who cares now. Jai Hind!!
